Borders don’t exist in French Guiana. It offers ideal crossing points from one country to another for traffickers, migrants fleeing some of the world’s poorest countries like Haiti, to seek a better life in France.
Through the daily lives of Guyanese – the head of a military patrol whose impossible mission is to control such a long border in the jungle, a “mule” recruited by drug traffickers, a school teacher overwhelmed by the differences in levels and social conditions of his pupils, a midwife and a woman who has just given birth testifying to hospital overcrowding – we discover the human consequences of the absence of this border, overwhelmed.
